The Board of Directors
The Board of directors is comprised of members of the community that reside in our response area. They are chosen by the board based on their ability and willingness to assist the department in meeting it goals. The board works to make sure it has members who can provide the services it needs to be successful; members that can provide: pro bono legal counsel, sound financial accounting and investment services, and knowledge of fire service issues, etc. It is expected that members will serve without consideration and model generous support by giving their time, talent and treasure to assure the success of the department. The membership committee also tries to choose candidates that members come from various areas of the Lake. The board is based on a not-for-profit model rather than a board of 'representatives' model (of a particular interest group). Thus the mission of the board is to assure that the department is successful in it's mission rather than assuring that a particular 'constituency's issues are addressed. The board meets by teleconference each month and regularly posts minutes on this web-page.

The Fire Chief
The Fire Chief is the Chief Operating Officer and is appointed by the board. The Chief, as well as all other members of the department, serves without consideration, and the Chief reports directly to the board. He is responsible for daily operations, training, and coordination with and among CAL FIRE, the US Forest Service, Fresno County Fire, The Fresno County Health Department and neighboring departments. He assists with fund raising efforts and is the 'public face' of the department. It is the Chief that assures that the policies approved by the board are followed.
